Welcome to L & C Literary Agency

If you have written a book and you want it published, then you will undoubtedly need a literary agent. Most publishers will not even glance at a manuscript that has not been submitted by a literary agent, so this is where we can help you. As your agent, we will represent your literary work and send it to targeted publishers for their assessment on your behalf.

Here at L & C Literary Agency we have excellent, long-established working relationships with many publishing houses throughout the world, and we can help you target the right ones. Authors often turn to literary agents for several reasons. The general responsibilities and duties of literary agents include the following:

  • Representing authors in the publishing world
  • Managing the business aspect of publishing for authors
  • Reading and reviewing a large number of manuscripts to decide which authors to represent
  • Negotiating contracts regarding publishing rights, advances and royalties
  • Suggesting edits that can improve the manuscripts before marketing
  • Communicating with authors about any significant changes publishers request in manuscripts
  • Assisting authors in understanding the ins and outs of publishing
  • Using their publishing connections to reach key editors

A literary agent has to perform all of the above mentioned duties with reasonable care.

We welcome both new authors as well as established ones. If you need an agent, or just have a query, do please contact us using the "Contact" form on this website, and someone will be in touch with you within a few days.

We represent a growing number of authors including Lesley Freeman, Helen Noble, Stephanie J. King, Barbara Ford-Hammond, Joanne Watters, Anna Jordan, and Leslie Paine OBE.
